Stephen Hough Nocturne Oriental (dedicated to Ji Liu) World Premiere Debussy Images, Book I Ji Liu Etude in C Major, No. 1 Beethoven Piano Sonata No. 21, 'Waldstein' York Bowen Reverie d'Amour Stravinsky/Agosti Firebird Suite One of the most popular performers, Ji Liu returns to open the new Sunday Piano Series season.
Beethoven's heroic 'Waldstein' sonata takes centre stage, alongside Debussy's Images (regarded by the composer as one of his greatest works) and an opulent showpiece in the form of Stravinsky's music to The Firebird.
There's also a lush lyrical piece by York Bowen, a world premiere from Stephen Hough, and a homage to the Etude composed by Ji himself. Each concert lasts an hour. Tickets include tea, coffee and cake.
