Star Gazing Night
Sherwood Pines | Friday 12th January | Saturday 3rd February 2018
Despite the magic of technology, sometimes a natural phenomenon can be the best wonders of all. If you are looking to have some new experiences during 2018, why not begin your year with a night of star gazing in the legendary Sherwood Forest? Wrap up cosy, bring a flask of something warm, and head to the woods for an evening immersed in nature. Beginning with an introductory presentation indoors, you’ll learn about star clusters, distant galaxies and the planetary giant Jupiter, and you’ll never look at the sky in the same way again.

All Your Bass
National Videogame Arcade | Friday 19th & Saturday 20th January
With four floors dedicated to the art of gaming past, present, and future, the National Videogame Arcade is likely to keep you entertained in the digital world for hours on end. Join them this January for the All Your Bass Festival; a series of talks, concerts and more featuring international names in the realm where gaming and music collide. There is quite the variety of events to check out at the NVA, along with the Royal Concert Hall and Antenna Media Centre. Grab your gaming friends and prepare to geek out at the first of what will become an annual event for videogame enthusiasts.

Winter Winding Wednesday
The British Horological Museum | Wednesday 24 January | 10.30am - 12.30pm
Although we are increasingly surrounded by futuristic gadgets and gizmos, for many a nostalgic love of the mechanical remains. Unlike much of today’s technology hidden away in plastic casing, clockwork is a fascinating invention to observe. The picturesque British Horological Institute celebrates the history of clocks, with many intricate and ornate time-telling instruments on display. Despite being closed for much of the winter, the BHI opens for ‘Winding Wednesdays’ where you can browse the museum, chat to the knowledgeable staff, and learn what it takes to keep this captivating museum ticking by.

The Bowie Experience
Royal Concert Hall | Thursday 25th January
The chameleon of British pop music passed away two years ago, but his fans have not ceased celebrating his innovative music and unique spirit. The Bowie Experience is said to be the world’s favourite and most authentic tribute to the Thin White Duke, so if you’re missing the starman and want to hear some classics in a room full of Bowie lovers, this night is for you.

The Real DMZ
New Art Exchange | Opens Friday 26th January
The Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) between North and South Korea was set up in 1953 by agreement between North Korea, China and the United Nations. In the past 65 years North Korea has become a place secluded from the world and shrouded in mystery. This free exhibition features eight South Korean artists attempting to address the persisting violence, tension and myriad perceptions of North Korea. The opening night on 26th January includes a complimentary drink, speeches, and a chance to learn more about New Art Exchange’s upcoming programme.

The Original Beggars Banquet
Ye Olde Salutation Inn | Sunday 28th January
With captivating storytelling in historical locations, dungeon master’s wife Madame Parboiled has a knack of transporting her audiences deep into Nottingham’s past. At this event she takes the guise of Etty Slack, to relive the Beggar's Banquets of 19th century England. Joined by a host of Victorian characters, including Mick Wysall of The Woolly Tellers, this will be a night of singing, table thumping, laughter, excellent food and ale to take your troubles away.

Aggers & Bumble
Royal Concert Hall Nottingham | Monday 29th January | 7.30pm
A familiar face of British cricket for over 50 years, David ‘Bumble’ Lloyd joins Jonathan ‘Aggers’ Agnew for a fascinating, entertaining, no-holds-barred evening, including an opportunity for the audience to tweet Aggers with their own questions. This 'wicket' night for cricket fans will bowl over even those new to the game.
