The Halle: Classic Movie Thrillers

Royal Concert Hall
Saturday 14 April

If you’ve ever seen clips of a movie before the soundtrack has been applied you will know how profoundly music can change the atmosphere of a scene, and throughout the years many soundtracks have become legendary in encapsulating the entire mood of a film. Shostakovich’s Jazz Suite No 2 from Eyes Wide Shut, Schifrin’s Mission Impossible and John William’s Jaws are just a few of the titles being performed at the Royal Concert Hall this weekend, brought to life by Manchester’s Symphony Orchestra The Hallé. A grand evening for anyone who appreciates the tension of the thriller genre or the bombastic grandiosity of a live orchestra performance!

15 year Anniversary Rock Art Celebration Event

Creswell Crags
Saturday 14th April

Some artists never find fame in their lifetime, but few have to wait as long as the caveman at Creswell Crags. Despite having been sat waiting for over 12,000 years, it was just in 2003 that Britain’s only known Ice Age cave art was discovered, and in the past fifteen years the site has blossomed into a fantastic museum and space to learn about the area during the Ice Age.

Check out animal skulls, tools and other findings in the exhibitions, book onto a tour of the caves before taking a leisurely stroll around the lake and crags. Plus this Saturday only Dr Paul Bahn, one of the original team to discover the engravings, will be on site giving talks.
