Compared to many countries the UK is rather impressive when it comes to understanding different diets and cuisines. Nottingham is no exception, and whether you're vegetarian, a once in a while carnivore or interested in limiting your meaty meals you'll find creative choices in cool settings throughout the city.
With it being National Vegetarian Week we thought we'd give you a run down of some of our favourite places in Hockley and the Lace Market to have a meat free meal. You'll find everything from quick cafe bites to luxurious classy dining, with creative and colourful dishes that might just turn you!
Annie's Burger Shack
A great place to dine if you're in a mixed group of carnivores, herbivores and veggies. Annie's range of vegetarian (and vegan!) burgers are second to none - mostly because all of the 32 burgers on the menu can be made meat free! Find them in The Lace Market!
Ugly Bread Bakery
If you enjoy deluxe sandwiches, you absolutely need to visit Hockley's Ugly Bread Bakery. Ciabattas, pizzas, and loafy sandwiches packed with a mouthwatering selection of fresh cheese, olives, tomatoes and other Mediterranean style goodies. Some of the options are so large you'll fill your boots til dinner, and all their bread is baked on site too!
The Larder On Goosegate
A dinner at The Larder on Goosegate is something special indeed and there are gorgeous views over Hockley in this historic building, which once housed the first ever Boots the chemist. Beautifully fresh ingredients, impeccable standards of presentation and an air of class will make your visit truly memorable.
Homemade Cafe
Colour and variety are the mainstays of Homemade's fantastic menu. Perfect for a healthy and quick lunch choice in the city centre, or relax at their Pavillion Cafe by The Forest Recreation Ground, which is a particularly fantastic spot throughout the summer.
Lee Rosys Tea
Lee Rosy's Tea gorgeous cafe to while away the hours reading, working, socialising or getting adventurous with over 100 types of tea. Its their lunches however that have an extra pizzazz! The small but well thought out menu changes regularly, but there's always a creative twist on a simple meal. Side salads come with grated beetroot or pomegranate for that extra intense colour and a lovely dressing, plus the good value will keep you coming back!
Anoki
Indian cuisine is famed for its diverse and inventive vegetarian dishes and Anoki ticks these boxes and more. Over ten delicious vegetarian options permanently reside on the menu, packed with colour, flavour and simple quality.
