A range of fascinating events take place this weekend, delving into the mysteries of the city’s 800+ caves. A festival completely unique to Nottingham, Cave City, sees talks and guided tours at some of the city's lesser known cave locations - some never before explored by the public. Drink cocktails in cave bars, watch cult movies in a Cosmic Ray Cave underground cinema, check out the finds discovered during the development of the city, take a historical ghost tour or visit the depths of some of the country’s oldest pubs.

Melting Pot Festival



New Art Exchange | Saturday 12 May 2018 | 12 - 5pm

New Art Exchange's annual food and culture festival returns, bringing together the best flavours, sights and sounds to be found across Hyson Green and Nottingham. Taste some authentic and delicious cuisine from around the world, enjoy a range of chilled live music, and keep the kids entertained with a selection of craft activities. This is also an excellent chance to catch the latest exhibition at the gallery - Zanele Muholi: Somnyama Ngonyama, Hail the Dark Lioness explores environmental themes, politics, and cultural identity through a series of striking portraits from the South African visual activist Zanele Muholi.

Beer’d Festival



Nottingham Racecourse | Friday 11 May 2018 | From 5pm

This weekend one of Nottingham’s best loved breweries, Castle Rock, comes to Nottingham Racecourse to present a splendidly unique twist on their regular racing events. Along with live music, great food and an extensive selection of delicious brews to sample, enjoy taking in the Grand-Tashional, a ½ furlong sprint reserved only for those sporting the finest of facial hair. The winner will win a furkin of ale to take home and those selected to compete will win a pair of free general admission tickets to the raceday, so don’t forget to enter if you’re up for brandishing your beard on the tracks!

With previous sell-out shows across the city, this unique performance is sure to captivate your imagination, taking you back to the hazy days of summer, where mysteries lurk in sun-drenched afternoons and warm twilit evenings.

Over at the prestigious School of Artisan Food this weekend you can step up your kitchen skills and get stuck into some proper summery cooking.
