A whole lot more than world-class sport…
When the Accenture World Triathlon Mixed Relay arrives in Nottingham this Thursday (7 June), the city will play host to some of the world’s top triathlon quartets as they plunge into the River Trent before racing around Victoria Embankment on both bike and foot.
But, as well as watching all this world-class sport, there’s plenty of other stuff going on during the evening, perfect for the whole family to take part in…
Across four exciting spectator zones, including the Grandstand, at the heart of the action, and FREE Waterfront, Trent Bridge and Rushcliffe Family Zones, here are our top picks:
1. Catch the parade
Enjoy a brass band playing lively music, along with mascots, magicians and cheerleaders, who’ll be sure to have you up and dancing. Starting from the Cricket Pavilion and finishing in front of the Grandstand.
2. GO TRI for yourself
Ever wanted to compete in a triathlon? Be chosen from the crowd to take part in a mock triathlon and get a real feel for what it takes! From 5.15–5.30pm in front of the Grandstand.
3. Cheer on the mascots
From 5.40–6pm, meet the mascots and watch them battle it out on the race course. Capped off with a medal ceremony at the finish line… providing they make it!
4. Win!
Catch one of the tennis balls fired into the Grandstand to win all kinds of exciting prizes, including a family ticket to The Lost City Adventure Golf or a pair of tickets to Splendour. Get your hands on a prize (literally) at 6pm.
5. Rushcliffe Family Zone
Stop by at the Rushcliffe Family Zone: not only is it a perfect spot from which to watch the athletes on the run course but it’ll also be bursting with FREE and low-cost family-friendly activities, including face painting, circus skills and hoopla!
So, how do I get there?
Enjoy a one-mile stroll from the city centre, straight after school or work, or, if you fancy a cycle, bring your bike to our free, secure bike park… but don’t forget your lock!
The Trent Bridge bus stop is only 400 metres from the main venue or, if you’re planning to get the tram, Meadows Embankment is the closest stop.
Car parking is £5 on The Meadows, accessed from Bathley Street, and disabled car parking will be provided as close as they can be to the main venue (just show your blue badge).
