The Art of the Hip Hop Album Cover Workshop
There’s lots happening at Nottingham’s contemporary gallery for diverse culture this weekend. Presented by illustrator Emily Catherine, Saturday sees a great workshop looking at influential Hip Hop art. Suitable for beginners and more experienced illustrators, you’ll learn about risograph printing with local printers Dizzy Ink, and tagging, lettering and graffiti with Grim Finga aka Kaption1. There are also two exhibitions to browse: Covers - which features over 50 reggae sleeves re-photographed decades later in their original locations, and The Script by Akram Zaatari, which explores the active role that photography plays in processes of identification among people, people’s attitudes while filming or photographing themselves, and recurring attitudes, fashions and forms of behaviour in front of the camera. Families can also enjoy the Covers-themed resource area where kids can create their own reggae style album covers using the selfie booth and show off their own artwork inspired by the exhibition on the mini-gallery wall. |
