Prepare to laugh harder than Rudolf when Santa gets stuck up the chimney with a brilliant evening of comedic hijinks at Just the Tonic’s big X-mas bash. Headlined by one of the most hilariously unpredictable performers on the circuit, Johnny Vegas, alongside the side-splitting YouTube sensation Diane Spencer and musical comedy maverick Rob Deering. Master of mayhem and lord of misrule Darrell Martin, who founded Just the Tonic over 20 years ago, will be presiding over proceedings as compare of the evening.

There’s a sleigh-load of festive fun to be had at Wollaton Hall this weekend. The courtyard will be swinging with the musical stylings of a brilliant brass band, traditional carols and Christmas readings, plus fun family games and activities - the perfect seasonal entertainment to accompany a winter warmer from the pop-up mulled wine bar. Discover the rich history and hidden treasures of the spectacular Elizabethan mansion with a Christmas family tour, or join the man of the hour himself for festive tales of his adventures in the North Pole and a jolly singalong at Stories with Santa.    

There’s no need to leave your faithful four legged friends out of the festivities, treat them to a long walk round the extensive grounds and make their day with a visit to Santa Paw’s Doggy Grotto. Each playful pup and hound will receive a special gift from Santa’s little helpers, and the minimum £2 donation goes straight to Jerry Green Dog Rescue, so you’ll also be helping other doggies in need this Christmas.

Christmas Carols in The Mill Yard

Wrap up warm, head to Nottingham’s working Windmill and get merry with their charming Christmas event, with carols performed by the Nottingham Ukulele Club and the Salvation Army. The mill yard looks picture perfect, lit by pretty lanterns, and the homemade mince pies and mulled wine always go down a treat. Grab a bag of the organic, stoneground flour produced by the mill to transform your festive baking or browse the stalls and pick up some nifty Christmas gifts.

Now for something completely different! Not wishing to bombard you with too many festive events, we thought we’d throw in something a little off-beat to enjoy this weekend. Whether you’re a Nottinghamshire native or know nothing about our fair city, you’re bound to learn a lot and laugh along the way on the Nutty Nottingham tour. From your starting part by the Bell Inn on Angel Row, you’ll embark on a relaxed, witty wander through Nottingham’s streets, with comedian 'The Sheriff' as your guide, letting you in on the local humour and in-jokes that you’d never normally discover, while providing some fascinating facts about the city.
