Nottingham’s brilliant Open Air Theatre season continues with Frankenstein at Newstead Abbey and two rather different performances of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream coming up this weekend. See a classic performance complete with spectacular Elizabethan costumes at Wollaton Hall or choose a more modern and accessible retelling, set in the golden days of peace and prosperity before the outbreak of the Great War, performed in the walled garden of Thoresby Park.

Immerse yourself in the tales of Nottingham’s outlaw hero and explore the ancient forest this weekend. Experience live re-enactments, song, dance, storytelling, sword-fighting, archery and more at this fantastic, free festival which has been entertaining families and Robin Hood fans for 34 years. Don’t miss the brand-new, action packed show created by Cavalry of Heroes and starring our rebellious hero, his merry men, Marian and the Sheriff - complete with breath-taking horse stunts, awesome archery, and jousting.

The UK’s first ever live streaming – gaming convention is coming to Nottingham this weekend. A must-visit for gamers and aspiring e-sports professionals, there’ll be loads to see and do whether you’re a PC or console player, with some incredible prizes up for grabs throughout the weekend. Test your skills in gaming tournaments, try your hand at live streaming and have a go at the most immersive VR Racing in the world. E-sports professionals and streamers will be sharing their experiences at Q&A panels giving you amazing insight into how you can become the next streaming sensation.

Notingham Food and Drink Festival

Saturday 10 -  Sunday 11 August 2018 | 10am - 6pm | Wollaton Park

Foodies are in for a treat this weekend! See celebrity chefs and some of the finest food producers sharing their expertise on a range of subjects, and pursue a huge variety of stalls, stopping to sample their delicious wares, to find something to tasty to take away with you. Of course, no food festival would be complete without some tempting street food to tuck into, and in the Piazza you’ll be spoilt for choice of tasty treats to indulge in as you sit back and enjoy the live music on offer throughout the weekend.  To complement the food, there’s a large selection of beverages available, including a real ale marquee as well as wine, champagne, cocktails and soft drinks.

Littles ones can get stuck in at a baking workshop, while older kids and adults alike can get stuck in crafting their own chocolate creations. There will also be lots to keep younger visitors entertained in the crafts corner, as well as delightful puppet shows, a bouncy castle and fun house.

Get ready to join a chorus of collective ‘oohs’ and ‘ahhs’ as you see three of the UK’s leading fireworks experts battle it out with a dazzling 10 minute display choregraphed to music, then cast your vote for your favourite in this fireworks extravaganza which has been delighting visitors for 5 years. After the competition, the organisers of the only fireworks championships in the UK  - MLE Pyrotechnics – will wow the crowds with a spectacular showcase to bring the event to an unforgettable conclusion.

Step into your dancing shoes and prepare to swing back in time to the fabulous 40’s at this vintage day out. There will be a variety of stalls to explore, all selling vintage wares, from fashion and jewellery to preloved records and homewares. Indulge in a glass of bubbly from the prosecco bar or sit back and relax in the pop-up vintage tearoom, while songbirds and crooners surround you with the sounds of the era.
