What's On This Weekend in Nottinghamshire

If you're feeling the Christmas spirit there's lots going on across Nottinghamshire to make the most of this magical time of year. We've picked out a selection of charming carol concerts, festive film screenings and chances to meet the cheery chap in red this weekend, along with a unique after-dark pony trekking experience and a day out at the races for those who aren't quite ready to deck the halls and ding-dong merrily.

Nottingham's Winter Wonderland is open daily throughout December, with ice skating, a Christmas market, a very cool ice bar and plenty of places to enjoy a winer warmer or a tasy treat. There are many more events on our What’s On calendar, so be sure to have a gander, or read on to check out some of our favourite things to do this weekend.

Don’t forget, if you're out having a great time in Nottinghamshire, you can use #lovenotts to share the love and connect with us via our TwitterFacebook or Instagram, or use #NottinghamChristmas to share your seasonal images!

Johnny Victory | Visit Nottinghamshire
Christmas Carol Concerts

Various Venues | Free  (donations gratefully received)

Get into the festive spirit at one of the various Christmas carol concerts coming up in Nottinghamshire this weekend. On Friday evening at Nottingham Cathedral there will be an evening of traditional carols by candlelight. On Saturday afternoon at the majestic Creswell Crags vintage-styled-singer Johnny Victory will be entertaining the crowds with a selection of seasonal favourites and carols. Wrap up warm for a winter wander around the scenic limestone gorge, indulge in some festive treats in the cafe or bring your little ones along to meet Santa and pass on their Christmas wishes.

Also taking place on Saturday afternoon is the much-loved Christmas Carols in the Millyard at Nottingham’s pretty mill on a hill on the outskirts of the city. The lantern-lit mill yard will brim with festive charm as the Nottingham Ukulele Club and Salvation Army perform carols and the scent of mulled wine and homemade mince pies fills the air. There will be stalls to browse for Christmas gifts and if you’re planning on doing some baking over the holiday season you can pick up a bag of the organic flour stoneground at Green’s Windmill to elevate your efforts.

Over in the town of Eastwood at the authentically recreated miners’ cottage where infamous author D.H. Lawrence was born, you can step back in time to see how Christmas was celebrated in the Victorian era, with traditional crafts to enjoy before the little ones visit Father Christmas in his grotto.
