Can you believe Easter weekend is on the horizon? Bank holidays perhaps might not be quite as precious as they once were, but through the wonders of technology there are still some brilliant virtual events and things to do while we’re #NottGoingOut.

Read on for our top recommendations for things to do this Easter weekend, or take a look at more virtual events from Nottingham and Nottinghamshire here.

Easter Bunny

Online Easter Events

Normally we’d be directing you to egg hunts galore and opportunities to meet the Easter Bunny this weekend, but as the lockdown might prevent us from doing this, it doesn’t mean we all can’t enjoy an excellent Easter! Make your own adorable Easter Bunny with this cute printable paper craft by Samantha Eynon on the Hand Made Nottingham website. They’ve got some amazing colouring pages too, some with a Nottingham theme - perfect for little ones or anyone looking for a relaxing activity to take their mind of things. Local family baking experts Go Bake are hosting a live bake-along aster Eggstravaganza on their Facebook page on Friday. They’ve even put together some treasure hunt clues, so your little ones can join in a big Easter treasure hunt from the safety of your home.

If you’re of Christian faith you can still gather in worship this Holy Week and Easter with Southwell Minster’s new online services. They also have a range of excellent online spiritual resources.

You’ll find more ideas for things to do at home this Easter on this page of our website.

As it’s a bank holiday on Friday and the days of the week have become increasingly meaningless anyway, we’re taking quite a broad definition of ‘weekend’ and including this brilliant event to brighten up your Thursday evening. The hilarious Yorkshire born, Nottingham based comedian Scott Bennett is doing stand-up comedy live from his shed in Beeston to keep us all laughing our way through lockdown. Tune in from 8pm for his observations on lockdown life weaved together with some of his side-splitting stand-up routines. This week will be his fourth shed-based show so we can highly recommended watching back over the shows from the last few weeks on his Facebook page.

In With Lakeside

Where: Lakeside Arts Website | When: Whenever you like

While we can’t visit, the good people at Lakeside Arts are inviting us all #InWithLakeside with loads of inspiring online content and acitvities on their website. From playlists to provide the perfect soundtrack to your afternoon and interesting articles to read to interactive activities for kids. We love their collaborative storytelling idea for children aged 6-12  – Box Office Assistant Katrina Sansone started writing a story about a very special house, but needs your ideas for how it should continue. Listen to parts one and two of Invisible House then make your suggestions and check back to hear how the story unfolds.
