Gin & Gaslight events at the D.H. Lawrence Birthplace Museum have proved so popular that they’re introducing 2 more for December this year, with a special festive twist! It is always a pleasure to see the historic rooms lit by gaslight of an evening but in December the museum will also be authentically trimmed up for Christmas.

For a taste of Victorian decadence, you will be greeted with an aperitif before tasting a selection of gins, then choosing your favourite for a full measure. Admission to the museum is included as part of the event, with the chance to see the historic rooms, gallery and exhibition rooms.

Plus there will be a variety of items for sale in the gift shop, including original gift ideas, stocking fillers, traditional toys and Christmas decorations.

Who is this for?

Perfect for any history lover, this is a chance to see the D.H. Lawrence Birthplace Museum like never before. Festive Family Reindeer Trail

2. Festive Family Reindeer Trail

Weekends from 26th November - 18th December | Creswell Crags | 10am - 4pm | £3 (includes trail sheet, pencil and treat)

Can you help Santa find his reindeer? Search the gorge for the six hidden wooden reindeer and write down the letter they're hiding. There's another one located in the museum building, too, so look carefully! Once you've found all seven, the hidden letters can be rearranged to spell a secret word. Solve the word and return to reception for your sweet treat.

There are also a number of baby reindeer hidden inside the museum building. How many can you count? Trail sheets are available to purchase from the museum reception.

Santa and Mrs Claus are coming to the Tropical Butterfly House this December! Perfect for a wonderful winter’s day out, families can journey through the wildlife park to see Santa at his woodland cabin grotto every weekend up to Christmas Eve.

You can also enjoy a Woodland Festive Friends Trail to collect stamps and find which animals hold a magical Christmas star, in return for a sweet treat reward. Or enjoy the roaring fire at Lottie’s Coffee Lounge with a choice of specialty drinks.

There will be lots of other opportunities around the park to spread some Christmas cheer, too, like writing a letter to Santa and joining in a carol with the singing reindeer, or capture a festive moment in a flurry of snow at the giant Polar Bear… Just don’t forget your Christmas jumpers!
