Eastwood, On the Home Front, 1914-1918 (17 April - 21 June)
From the archives of local newspapers of the time, and from the town council records, this exhibition gives us a glimpse into how World War I affected the streets and the people of Eastwood that D.H. Lawrence knew so well.
Broxtowe: A Journey Through History and Custom (1945 to the Present) (26 June – 23 August)
Welcome to Broxtowe: A Journey Through History and Custom, an exhibition that explores the rich and evolving story of this vibrant borough from 1945 to the present day. Over the course of these transformative decades, Broxtowe has undergone significant changes that have shaped its identity, culture, and communities.
Through a curated collection of photographs, this exhibition highlights the milestones that have defined Broxtowe’s past – social, industrial and cultural. From the rebuilding efforts following World War II to the rise of modern urban development, we trace the borough’s journey, not only through the physical changes in the landscape but also the stories of its people – how their customs, lifestyles, and sense of community have adapted and thrived.

I Am A Reader: The Exhibition (28 August – 8 November)
“Reading a book is like re-writing it for yourself. You bring to a novel anything you read, all your experience of the world. You bring your history and you read it in your own terms.” Angela Carter
Featuring beautiful artwork inspired by the words and thoughts of real readers, this exhibition reflects and celebrates everything that happens when we open a book, and poses the question: is reading creative in itself?
From a project by Inspire, where six writers worked with six groups of adult readers to create a short story anthology, while sharing their individual experiences of being a reader. Notes from these sessions were shared with artist Carol Adlam who chose insights which inspired her as the basis for a series of illustrations.
From what different readers see or hear when they read a book, to what reading means to them, the resulting beautiful illustrations in this exhibition are a striking, poignant and often moving visual interpretation of the reading experience.
