About

In the historic market town of Newark on Trent sits Gannets Day Café and Bistro! Established in 1979, Gannets is a renowned stopping place offering fabulous food and a warm welcome to new and old customers. Housed in an elegant Georgian building situated opposite the ruins and grounds of the beautiful castle, Gannets is an idyllic location perfect for visitors in Newark.

This family owned, quirky yet classic cafe maintains a legacy of signature dishes freshly made using locally sourced, seasonal and organic ingredients. Gannets offer vegetarian and vegan dishes as well as a selection of daily specials including gluten free and dairy free lunches, cakes and pudds (there really is something for everyone!).

As well as a fabulous downstairs café, Gannets boasts a stunning first floor bistro which provides an elegant backdrop to any event. So, whatever the occasion, Gannets can offer the perfect celebration, whether you’re looking for a delectable 3-course menu, vintage afternoon tea or an evening of fine wine, canapés and platters. Gannets have hosted hen parties, weddings, christenings, birthdays, baby showers, business meetings and retirement and charity cocktail parties so have lots of experience in creating the perfect atmosphere for the right occasion. Have a venue already? Don’t worry – they also do outside catering, so can bring the party to you. Please get in touch with your ideas and they will do their best to accommodate your every wish!

You can also take Gannets home! Having friends or family over and don’t fancy cooking? Pop in and let them know what dishes you want and they will be freshly prepared and ready to take home on the day. Serve in your own casserole dishes, so you get all the praise minus all the hassle - perfect! (…P.S we promise we won’t tell if you don’t)
