Situated on the edge of Sherwood Forest, Ollerton Mill, dating back to 1713, is the only working watermill in Nottinghamshire. The mill has recently been restored and houses a Visitor Centre and Teashop.
The entrance to the Teashop is at the back of the waterwheel over the mill race, with a glass vieing panel. Splendid views over the river make this a beautiful venue to relax in, justifying their award for 'Nottingham's Best Afternoon Tea Award' and their numerous awards for excellence from the Tea Council's Guild of Tea Shops.
This friendly Tea Shop is certainly a family affair and has been open for the past 21 years, whilst the Watermill itself has been in the keep of the Mettam family since 1921 when it was still a part of the old Rufford estate!
A potted history and food for thought!
The Tea Shop was set up to offer refreshments to the watermill visitors and since then has become a firm piece of heritage and local life itself.
Offering home baked cakes, quiches, salads, mouth watering puddings and delicious afternoon teas, with it's plain or fruit scones, jam, cream and strawberries and selection of sandwiches and cakes.
All our food is freshly preapred and all the baking for the Tea Shop is done by Kate & Ellen, using quality local ingredients wherever possible and certainly offers the very best value for money.
Lunches are served between 11:45am - 2:45pm
Cakes and scones are served until 15 minutes before the Tea Shop closes.
Kate and Ellen strive to retain traditional values of quality and service and put great emphasis on presentation and cleanliness.
"We look forward to welcoming you soon!"
The tea room regret that they don't accept Credit Cards. Cheques are however accepted with a valid bankers card
