Visual artist Alexandra Ghimisi uses colour and abstract designs to transform space. Her first solo exhibition at Nottingham Society of Artists Gallery takes inspiration from scenes of nature or abstract compositions. Her work is a celebration of light revealed in rich and vibrant colours using her personal visual language of fresh and direct brush marks.
Additionally, she also uses scenes of nature as a way to tell a story, illustrate an idea, or conceptualize a metaphor. Coastal locations, forests and National Parks provide her with rich and endless subject material. She uses vivid colours to excite the imagination, allowing viewers to explore their own experiences and dreams of the wide outdoors.
Her abstract art is a vehicle for endless experimentation and exploration, and is largely inspired by her discoveries of her inner world. Through abstraction and experimentation she can express the communication between surface and subconscious, searching for an emotional response.
You can meet the artist daily at the Gallery.
The exhibition is free of charge and everyone is welcome!
