Christmas at Broadway: Ghost Stories for Christmas

About

Sunday 21 December 2025 | 4pm - 7pm
Broadway Cinema
Tickets from £10

Presented by Kino Klubb and introduced by Joey Bell

Join us for an afternoon of Christmas chills and spooky storytelling as we screen two iconic Christmas ghost stories and bring classic tales to life with a live reading by actor and writer Kenton Hall.

The tradition of telling ghost stories at Christmas uses the long, dark winter nights as a backdrop for reflecting on life's mysterious and darker sides. Both episodes screening are fan favourites, based on classic stories by the master M.R. James.

Whistle and I'll Come to You (1968, 42m) is a masterclass in slow-burn terror, that follows a curmudgeonly academic who, while on a seaside retreat, inadvertently summons an ancient, malevolent presence.

A Warning to the Curious (1972, 50m) is another gem of subtle creeping fear. An amateur archaeologist who discovers a buried crown while visiting a coastal town, only to unknowingly unleash a vengeful spirit.

There will be a short interval after the first film.
