A full or half day Experience
Includes a tour of the site of King John’s Palace (the former Royal Hunting Palace at the heart of Sherwood Forest), finds handling session (where guests learn about, and get to handle archaeological artefacts including coins, metalwork, pottery, flint and more, from the Prehistoric to Post-medieval), tool-box talk and instructions on how to dig, followed by having a go at digging in a real excavation site, using a trowel and hand shovel.
 
*Half day session can be combined with a morning Sherwood Forest History Tour above for a full day option*

King John’s Palace is where the King’s of England visited to hunt in Sherwood Forest. All eight kings from Henry II to Richard the II from the mid 12th to late 14th centuries, visited and built at the site.
Known as the Kings Houses, and Clipstone Palace, during the medieval period, it witnessed hunting parties, jousts, feasting, and more. In 1290 Edward I even a Parliament was held there.
Learn all abut the site, and have a go at digging at a real excavation.
