"A wealth of talent calling to mind the spirit of the hard-swinging, exuberant jazz joints of 50's New York" – Ronnie Scott's
Led by the extraordinary multi-reed virtuoso Arran Kent, this ensemble is a powerhouse of talent, guaranteed to deliver an unforgettable performance.
Also fronting the band is trumpet player Johnny Woodham, known for his vibrant sound and work with artists like Alfa Mist, Tom Misch, and Jordan Rakei. A standout voice in the UK jazz scene, his playing brings flair, energy, and a modern edge to the group's classic swing.
On piano, Andrzej Baranek brings both brilliance and precision, a superb soloist and ensemble musician of the highest calibre. Holding down the low tones is Geoffrey Threadgold on double bass, whose gut strings, enormous sound, and swinging slap bass drive the groove like a locomotive. The band is completed by Peggy's own house drummer Andrew 'Woody' Wood, a regular fixture at jazz clubs up and down the country as well as part of the furniture at Peggy's Skylight!
For this acclaimed return show at Peggy's Skylight, the band will be diving into the rich musical heritage of bebop, exploring the classic Jazz Messengers recording: 'A Night at Birdland' from 1954. Expect to hear music penned by Horace Silver, Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie & more!
