Nottingham Castle
A new civic celebration – Lord Mayor’s Day – will take place at Nottingham Castle with visitors invited for a low-cost entry of £2.
The event will showcase some of the Lord Mayor’s key priorities which include celebrating the voluntary sector, promoting the importance of literature and music, and highlighting the city’s legendary rebel Robin Hood.
The Lord Mayor of Nottingham, Councillor Cheryl Barnard, and other civic leaders in full ceremonial dress will open the event at 11am at the castle’s iconic gatehouse. The day will feature a variety of entertainment including a medieval encampment offering visitors the chance to meet Robin Hood and his outlaws – including Maid Marian, Little John and Friar Tuck – plus have-a-go archery.

Last but not least, in partnership with Nottingham Community and Voluntary Service (NCVS) the council will thank Nottingham’s volunteering champions with an afternoon tea party hosted by the Lord Mayor. Specially invited guests will receive free entry to the event as well as exclusive access to the tea party where they will be recognised for their volunteering efforts. Market stalls hosted by charitable and voluntary organisations will offer visitors the chance to find out more about volunteering and opportunities to make a difference.
Tickets are priced at £2 per person and must be booked in advance. All persons attending must have a valid ticket.
