Maya Youssef is a globally renowned and award-winning qanun player and composer from Syria. Born in Damascus, as a result of the war in her home country Maya now lives in the UK. Regular collaborators pianist Ben Smith and percussionist Elizabeth Nott perform music from Maya's two albums Syrian Dreams and Finding Home. Steeped in classical Arabic tradition, Maya Youssef's approach infuses jazz and Western classical styles.
