Most Sundays from 7pm

Meet the Ghosts of Wollaton Hall

Wollaton Hall is a beautiful Elizabethan House, Built by Sir Francis Willoughby in collaboration with the architect Robert Smithson and completed in 1588. The name of the family changed over the centuries, but the Hall remained in the ownership of the bloodline until 1926 when death duties forced its sale. Today it is owned By Nottingham City Council and houses the cities natural history collection. It is noted as one of the most haunted buildings in Nottinghamshire.

In this behind the scenes tour, there will be no gimmicks or fancy dress. The tour is lead by Kath George, a full time front of house assistant responsible for the unlocking and locking of the building. She has met some of the former residents, as have her colleagues both still in the service and those long gone.  This tour brings in the stories of real encounters with the unexplainable happenings of Wollaton hall, and we will even give you a glass of wine to steady your nerves.

The Original Beggar's Banquet

So what is a Beggars Banquet..........well in Victorian England people flooded into towns across England looking for work, only to find there was none or what there was was so poorly paid that you watched your family starve. The housing situation was no better and many were homeless and destitute or just plain bewildered.

To ease the suffering the town corporations put up soup kitchens and fed the poor and gave them a glass of beer. When fed and cheered the poor, destitute and bewildered enjoyed entertainment from street entertainers and enjoyed a right good sing a long with songs popular at the time.

We invite you to join us in the spirit of the Beggars Banquets with songs from musicals, comical sketches, monologues and a good old sing song with some of your old favorites and some a bit more recent.

The Beggar's Banquet and Ghost-Teas are available as private bookings
