From its historic listed building with state-of-the-art facilities, an award-winning team of practitioners will guide you through the fascinating world of artisan food, as you master the skills of baking, brewing, butchery, cheesemaking, preserving and much more.


Become a star baker at the UK's only not-for-profit school dedicated to artisan food. Set in the grounds of the historic Welbeck Estate in Nottinghamshire, get a taste for lovingly-crafted artisan food on one of the array of short courses on offer.

Stay nearby at one of the luxury B&Bs, and pay a visit to the Welbeck Farm Shop, recently named one of the UK’s top destination farm shops. While here, sample produce straight from the Estate, including Stichelton cheese, handmade chocolates and scrumptious sourdough bread.

Mouth-watering courses coming up include British pies, Christmas baking, artisan patisserie and the ‘pig in a day’ introduction to butchery and meat preparation.

    The ‘Make the Most of Summer’ package includes the Introduction to Ice Cream Making course on Thursday 21 June at the School, based in the former fire stables in a beautiful secluded countryside setting, in the midst of the Welbeck Estate, Nottinghamshire.

    The offer includes an overnight stay and traditional English breakfast at the nearby Ye Olde Bell Hotel in the rural village of Barnby Moor on Wednesday 20 June or Thursday 21 June.

    The course is delivered by tutor Kitty Travers, founder of London’s La Grotta Ices, renowned for her creative use of flavour, mastery of technique and commitment to natural ingredients, making her the go-to modern ice cream expert in the UK.

    The hotel is on the borders of Nottinghamshire, Yorkshire and Lincolnshire has been lovingly restored and renovated by its current owners. It features 59 beautiful rooms, suites and lodges, all individually styled with period furniture, luxurious fabrics and contemporary bathrooms.

    The course is being offered at £100 when booked with the hotel (normally priced at £145); Ye Olde Bell are offering special room rates of £119 double/twin; £89 single per night including full English breakfast.
