Tuesday 20th March 2018 - Talk will begin at 7pm
Michael has reconstructed and photo-edited an ancient and decayed old copy of the Coal Board film of the underpinning of St Mary’s Church Arnold during 1957 through to 1959.
The film includes sound and original commentary. The Coal Board had actually binned the original! The film also includes several views over Arnold at that time, and processions to and from the church during the work.
Michael has been closely connected with Arnold for all this time, through the church and as a scout leader, youth leader, and as a Churchwarden and now a Trustee of the Constable’s Field, etc. Michael can answer most questions about the social and physical fabric of Arnold over the past 60 years from personal experience. He was also a Churchwarden with Ken Negus, the Arnold Librarian/Historian, who regularly used to give historical presentations.
Visitors can attend the talk at the cost of £3
If you wish to join the Arnold Local History Group you can do so also at the annual cost of £10 and entitles you to attend monthly meetings for £1, vote at the AGM and be eligible for election to the committee.
