About

Friday 15 October 2021 - Friday 22nd October 2021
Nottingham Society of Artists
Tickets: Free

For over 20 years, one very prestigious event has stood the test of time in the art world. Hosted by the SAA (Supporting All Artists) the Artists of the Year exhibition 2021 promises to deliver the very best in artistic performance. Each year, the competition always attracts several thousand entries, not least because, unlike many other national events of the same nature, this one is absolutely free to enter! What's more, a professional team of judges are on board including acclaimed artists Neil Buchanan, of Art Attack fame, Lachlan Goudie and Fraser Scarfe (a previous Artists of the Year winner) to name but a few.

Titled 'An Artistic Wonderland', Artists of the Year 2021 is set to impress and inspire people from all walks of life, featuring magical scenes and window displays as well as an outstanding pop-up shop, packed full of art supplies for every artist's needs.
Five entry levels will be on display: Junior (16 and under), Young (17–25), Beginner, Amateur and Professional. Then along with the Member's Choice Award, there will be six Category Awards: Best Portrait or Figures, Best Abstract or Experimental Art, Best Still Life, Best Flowers or Garden, Best Animal or Wildlife, Best Landscape, City scene or Waterscape. Truly something for everyone!

The SAA will be displaying up to 100 winning pieces at the Nottingham Society of Artists on Friar Lane, a short walk from the iconic Nottingham Castle and city centre, over the space of a week from the 15th – 22nd October 2021. The exhibition will launch with an exclusive private viewing evening on the 15th of October for the winning artists, judges, press and sponsors and has set expectations high for attendees.
Established in 1986, the SAA 'Teaching Art' is the largest art community in the UK and is the most influential and far-reaching community of its kind anywhere in the world.

Alongside the exhibition, the SAA will be running painting workshops taught by some of the community's most favoured professional artists. Aiming to supply inspiration, information, help and advice on a whole host of practical painting issues as well as encouraging young and well-seasoned artists to paint outside their comfort zone, the workshops will be a way for artists to meet in person and exchange stories, tips and tricks - and come away with a painting they are proud of!

The exhibition is a free entry event and is open to anyone looking for something awe inspiring to add to their calendar.
