Naomi Wood presents her latest novel The Hiding Game, which focuses on a group of young art students living and studying at the Bauhaus Art School until it was forced to close by the Nazis. Whilst researching the Bauhaus, Wood focused on the parties, the practices and students, nevertheless she wondered what life might look like underneath the blissful utopia presented - when artistic relationships ran sour and when the tyranny of the Nazis threatened to shut it down.
The legacy of the Bauhaus often focuses on the histories of male figures, however during this talk, Wood will explore the life and work of the Bauhaus women photographers, designers and weavers who have been historically muted from audio-visual archives of the 1920s avant-garde.
The talk and book launch will be followed by book signing.
Five Leaves Bookshop will present a selection of books from the author for sale during the event.
In collaboration with Picador and Five Leaves Bookshop.
