British Geological Survey Open Day

To celebrate Earth Science Week, the BGS is throwing open its doors to the public for a FREE, fun-filled day of hands-on activities, talks, exhibitions and tours, with a unique opportunity to look behind the scenes with special laboratory and workshop demonstrations.
This is a family-friendly event with the theme ‘Geoscience is for everyone’.
Visitors can learn about research into volcanoes, landslides, tsunamis and even make their own earthquake. You can handle many of the rocks and fossils on display, learn about the secrets of soils and, for any tech lovers, come and discover the metals used in your mobile phone. Or join us as we look at the stars and learn about meteorites, there’ll be something for all ages and interests to discover.
Booking is essential for this event. Visitors who haven't booked tickets may be refused entry.
