About

Call to Arms - The Queen’s Royal Lancers & Nottinghamshire Yeomanry Museum: 12th August 2014 - November 2018

The Queens Royal Lancers & Nottinghamshire Yeomanry Museum has launched a new exhibition to mark the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War. The exhibition, entitled Call to Arms, explores the contribution made by local regiments during the conflict. It runs until 2018, with the emphasis shifting each year to reflect key events and the regiment’s roles during the conflict.

The exhibition, which gives visitors the chance to find out about life in the trenches, has been funded thanks to a £7,000 grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF). As part of the Call to Arms project, local people have been invited to collect photographs, newspaper clippings, documents, as well as family tales passed down to help them build a clear picture of what life was really like.
