Legendary violinist and conductor Pinchas Zukerman brings his orchestra from Ottawa to Nottingham in commemoration of Canada's role in the First World War. The programme brings together music from former adversaries, beginning with Vaughan Williams's atmospheric Tallis Fantasia. John Estacio's Brio then provides a fleet-footed Canadian entrée to Bruch's famous Violin Concerto No. 1, the composer's first, and most popular work. Finally, Beethoven's 7th Symphony is all about momentum, its relentless, dancing energy ensuring an irresistible conclusion.
