Temple Fairs, also known as Miaohui, are Chinese cultural gatherings taking place during the Chinese New Year period. Temple Fairs were once held exclusively near temples (hence the name), but now are held in a variety of locations. To help local citizens better understand Chinese culture and enrich city life, Nottingham City Council has been organising the Chinese New Year Temple Fair since 2016.
In the past four years, support has been given from Ningbo Government, the Confucius Institute of University of Nottingham, Hainan Airways, Shang Hong Shelf and Hino Travel. The upcoming Chinese New Year Temple Fair will continue to deliver the spirit of last year, showcasing Chinese culture, presenting a variety of activities and performance (singing, dancing, face changing, music instrument playing and dragon dance!). 40 local businesses are expected to join this culture feast this time.
Organiser: Nottingham City Council
Co-organisers: CSSA Nott, CSSA NTU
