Djanogly Theatre, Lakeside Arts
£3 (free concessions)
Presented by Dr John MacGinnis Lead Archaeologist, British Museum Iraq Scheme
For the past six years, the British Museum has been conducting fieldwork in the Darband-i Rania pass in the Zagros mountains of Iraqi Kurdistan. The excavations have been exploring a previously unknown fortified settlement dating to the time of the early Parthian Empire (2nd-1st centuries BC), making a fundamental new contribution to our understanding of one of the least documented empires of antiquity.
