Course Fee - £285
Course Description
This course is a lively exploration of the anatomy of the body - its proportions, silhouettes and movement through dance.
It's an ideal way to explore contemporary approaches to life drawing that express energy and movement.
It's open to beginners looking for a new challenge as well as those already familiar with life drawing who are looking to try a fresh approach.
Whilst there is a wealth of life drawing classes out there, very few use a constantly moving figure to develop contemporary approaches to drawing.
Through direct observation you'll explore the different ways to express movement, angles and the energy of dance, developing a range of responses and a series of accomplished drawings.
On this course, you will:
- Complete quick practical drawing tasks
- Take into account proportion, form and composition
- Explore contemporary ideas to mark-making and drawing techniques
- Develop an individual style
- Experiment with a variety of different mediums
- Receive one-to-one feedback and group critiques.
What will I gain?
You’ll leave this course with an increased confidence in drawing and an improved understanding of the body in motion.
You’ll have a deeper understanding of key drawing concepts and a greater awareness of your own individual creativity.
Level: Open to all
Entry requirement: Beginners as well as those with some drawing experience are welcome.
Where you'll learn: You will be based in the Waverley Building, a beautifully restored, listed building with real design heritage in the School of Art and Design on the City Campus.
You will work in the Dame Laura Knight studio: a large, airy life drawing space that is well-equipped with easels, lighting rigs and space to develop your ideas and create exciting work.
You’ll also have access to our library to use outside of your short course; whilst you can’t reserve or take away books, you are welcome to use them as a resource for research and referencing.
