Easter Rising Reflections: Rocky Road to Dublin

About

Wednesday 19 March 2014 From 7.30pm - 9pm

Cliff Housley of The Sherwood Foresters Museum tells the story of the dramatic events which occurred in Dublin during Easter 1916 and the bid for Irish Independence. Sherwood Foresters were among those sent to quell the uprising, and some of those men lost their lives there. Due to the sensitive political interplay of the Irish War of Independence and the First World War, this history has been suppressed. Hear a story of courage, gallantry, and, surprisingly, romance.

Helen Louise Bates, who works on regional history, will launch an exciting new project that aims to re-examine events of 1914-1916, incorporating oral histories, arts and music.

Admission £3
