This practical, hands-on course will introduce you to the world of fashion photography.
You'll develop your photography skills and build an understanding of contemporary fashion photography and its context within modern society.
During the course, you'll experience the different roles that make a fashion shoot happen, including assistant, producer, digital operator and client.
The photography will take place in both the studio and on location, and so you'll learn how to use camera flash and battery-operated flash equipment, LED lighting and digital equipment.
You'll create your final artwork using industry-standard software.
This course is ideal if you are interested in photography and fashion and if you are considering further studies in either area.
On this course you will:
- understand digital photography and the manual settings of your camera
- experience working in the studio with professional lighting equipment
- direct a model and style a contemporary look
- source sets, props and backdrops
- create unique, beautiful and inspiring fashion images that demonstrate your personal approach.
What will you gain?
By the end of the course you'll have lots of fashion images that you can add to your portfolio.
You'll also have the knowledge and experience of how to plan a fashion shoot and how to work as part of a team.
Level: Beginner
Entry requirement: You should have some knowledge of using your digital camera in manual mode.
No fashion experience is required.
Where you'll learn: You will be based in the School of Art and Design on the City Campus.
You'll find full-size photography studios, equipped with backgrounds and lighting, and comprehensive Mac editing suites with software for photography editing including Adobe Creative Cloud.
You'll also have access to our library to use outside of your short course; whilst you can't reserve or take away books, you are welcome to use them as a resource for research and referencing.
Need accommodation?
You can book a self-catered, single room with private bathroom on our city campus, right next door to the studios and classrooms.
