Film & Food: Tokyo Godfathers
Thursday 16 December
Nonsuch Studios
Tickets: £20.00 Film & Food |£5.00 Film Only
Embrace the Festive season and join us for a culinary trip to Japan with some delicious Japanese food served alongside Satoshi Kon’s funny, touching and exceedingly entertaining animated masterpiece: Tokyo Godfathers!
Middle-aged alcoholic Gin, teenage runaway Miyuki and former drag queen Hana are a trio of homeless people surviving as a makeshift family on the streets of Tokyo. While rummaging in the trash for food on Christmas Eve, they stumble upon an abandoned newborn baby in a trash bin. With only a handful of clues to the baby’s identity, the three misfits search the streets of Tokyo for help in returning the baby to its parents. Traversing the dark underbelly of Japan’s capital, this heartwarming, funny, and quirky film proves why Satoshi Kon is remembered as one of the storytelling greats.
Please note this film is in Japanese and will be screened with English subtitles.
These popular Film & Food Nights are a night at the cinema and a restaurant all in one! The first of three courses is served from 6.00PM, with the cinema screening beginning from 8.00PM.
