Author: Terence Rattigan
Flare Path is a story of love and loyalty, courage and fear. Based on Rattigan’s own experiences as a tail gunner in the Second World War, it is told with great wit. Set in a Lincolnshire hotel near an RAF Bomber Command airbase, the play interweaves the stories of three couples against the backdrop of wartime uncertainty. The title of the play refers to the lamps outlining runways, necessary for aircraft to take off or land after dark. Terence Rattigan is now regarded as one of the most significant twentieth century British playwrights.
