Lunchtime talk by Stephen Lowe
Fred Karno's Army was the darkly comic song of the troops in the trenches. In reality Fred Karno's army was a legendary music-hall troupe and the Nottingham lad Fred Karno was the showman genius and mentor to the young Charlie Chaplin. Lowe's latest play Charlie centre on the young clown and gun'nor Karno.
This event forms part of Trent to Trenches - a county-wide programme of events to commemorate 100 years since the start of WW1.
