Bolsover Castle
Tickets: Member (Adult) £8, Member (Child) £4, Member (Family) £20, Adult £13.00, Child, 5-17 years £7, Family £34
It’s 1666 and England is in the grips of the Great Plague. Residents of Bolsover Castle are dying off one by one – first the fever, then the headaches, vomiting, chills…
Rats are scuttling through the castle and there’s an air of death everywhere. At the gates of the castle, people are arriving with chilling stories of death and disease. Some have made it into the grounds of the castle but others have not been so lucky waiting just outside the gates for the inevitability of death.
Have you got what it takes to brave the castle after dark?
Will the castle guards protect you from the ‘Revenants’ who are infesting the area as you enter the world of Plague Doctors? On this night, the dead and nearly dead roam amongst us. Take a walk through Bolsover and experience the gruesome life and times of the Bubonic plague, meet the plague doctor (if you dare) and immerse yourself in the sights and sounds of 1666.
Bolsover Castle was built on an ancient pagan burial ground and has been named as one of the most terrifying of our sites. A small boy has been seen holding the hands of visitors, cold sensations, screams and muffled voices have been heard - no-one is safe here. Are you ready to experience Bolsover’s Fright Night?
Bring your own torches as you explore the site – we’re dying to hear you scream!
Due to the nature of the attraction, Fright Night is not recommended to children under 12 years old. Entry is at the discretion of a parent or guardian. Many children enter and enjoy the experience, but please be aware that it will be very dark and some may find the performers and atmosphere frightening.
Tickets are avaliable for 6pm entry and 7.30pm to this event.
If you purchase 6pm entry you are welcome to arrive between 6pm and 7.30pm. If you purchase 7.30pm entry you are welcome to arrive between 7.30pm and 9pm.
