‘Nottingham October – The UK’s Festival City’

Wednesday 26  - Saturday 29 October 2016

GameCity is back!

Now in it’s eleventh year, Nottingham’s world-renowned video game festival returns, promising to be bigger than ever!

Headlining games industry speakers from across the world will provide a free talks and workshops programme throughout the festival- all hosted at The National Videogame Arcade

Operating as a fringe festival, this year the ‘Open’ theme will see video games installed across the Creative Quarter. Leading developers and artists will showcase their work to the public in various venues across Hockley: Rough Trade, Broadway, Hockley Arts Club, Lee Rosy’s and Brewdog plus many more will help make the festival bigger and brighter for 2016.

Highlights of the festival to look out for include:

Off the Map - Thursday 27 October

Partnering with the British Library, ‘Off the Map’ is the nationally acclaimed student competition that uses the unique collections of the BL to produce new digital works. Thursday’s awards will reveal the 2016 winner as voted for by industry professionals. See our showcase of the shortlisted entries through the festival.

The Sheriff’s Gauntlet - Saturday 29 October

The Sheriff has again set her challenge! This large-scale treasure hunt will challenge participants tasks and games to find one victorious Gauntlet winner! Meet at the Castle Statue of Robin Hood at 10.30am on Saturday 29th to be issued the challenge by the Sheriff of Nottingham herself!
