Nottingham Trent University
Course Fee - £475
Course Description
This course will provide you with a grounding in graphic design and is ideal if you wish to dip your toes in creative waters.
The main purpose is to help you build a portfolio through the exploration and experimentation of graphic design ideas.
You might be one of those people who has sometimes wondered what the term ‘thinking outside the box’ means.
Or you might be interested in developing your creativity without boundaries.
Either way, this course will leave you wanting more.
Practical tasks will be set each day, culminating in exciting visuals suitable for a portfolio.
The tasks set will challenge preconceptions about the things around you and will help you develop, explore and experiment with unusual starting points.
On this course you will:
- Be introduced to the language associated with graphic design, as well as formal elements such as colour, layout, composition and typography
- Learn to understand the importance of the audience and how design decisions are influenced by this knowledge
- Appreciate how the choices we make with regards to design and typography shape the tone of a message.
What will you gain?
By the end of the course you'll have the beginnings of a portfolio of work, one that has been produced in an informal, creative yet challenging environment.
Where you'll learn: You will be based in the School of Art and Design on the City Campus.
You’ll find collaborative working spaces where you develop your sketches and concepts, and IT suites equipped with industry standard software including Adobe Creative Cloud.
You’ll also have access to our library to use outside of your short course; whilst you can’t reserve or take away books, you are welcome to use them as a resource for research and referencing.
Level: Open to all
Entry requirement: You should have an enthusiasm for design, communication and visual arts, and an interest in developing your creative and technical skills.
