Enjoy a host of free events over the weekend of the 12th & 13th September 2015 at the Galleries of Justice Museum in celebration of Heritage Open Days.
On Saturday 12th September, enjoy the Lace Market Heritage Trail: This audio guide narrated by Joanna Lumley begins outside the beautiful, iconic building of an old church turned bar/restaurant and will lead you through the stately cobbled streets of Nottingham’s famous and historical Lace Market, where Victorian splendour sits neatly on top of a cave system from a much earlier time. This fascinating audio tour lasts approx. 30-40 minutes. Limited audio hand sets are available and will be based on a first come, first served basis. On Sunday 13th September between 10:00am – 1:30pm, take part in an historic Lace Market tour with the Villainous Sheriff of Nottingham. Explore the historic Lace Market area with the man himself, the Villainous Sheriff of Nottingham! Discover the hidden secrets of the past as the ancient buildings are brought to life in this fascinating and engaging actor-led tour. This tour will run every half an hour from 10:00am – 1:30pm. *BOOKING ESSENTIAL*
Get Up Stand Up Sunday 13th September 2pm, 3pm & 4pm - This brand new thought-provoking audio and visual experience will take you on a journey through the history of civil rights movements across the world. A digitally mastered tour utilising our building like never before will explore the notions of justice, injustice and human rights through the themes of migration, oppression and protection. This tour will last approx. 40 minutes and will begin on the hour at 2pm, 3pm & 4pm. *BOOKING ESSENTIAL*
