Step back in time with the house that time forgot…

This Edwardian semi-detached house is little changed since the Straw family took up residence in 1923. The purchase and subsequent redecoration of Endcliffe Villa was a showcase of how successful the family grocers business had been. Following the death of their parents in the 1930’s, the brothers lived frugally, installing few modern conveniences and changing little. A unique place, full of everyday household objects, evidence of the family business and the treasured possessions; Mr Straw’s House offers a chance to step back in time with a truly distinctive visit.

• Meet our guides on your tour and catch a glimpse into the lives of the Straw family
• Explore the fascinating exhibition spaces and uncover more about the family business and local trade
• Watch the conservation team and discover what it take to care for the Straw family house and collection
• Stay a little longer and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee, or even bring a picnic to have in the gardens or Orchard.
• Why not purchase a souvenir to remember your visit to Mr Straw’s House from our shop?

To visit Mr Straw’s House please book in advance online or by calling 01909 482380. Due to the size of the property it is essential to book before visiting.
