Nottingham born and bred, Martyn leads this dynamic and versatile trio, significantly inspired by Ray Brown of the Oscar Peterson Trio, and also other double bassists who have stepped forward from the back of the stage, such as Charles Mingus, Jaco Pastorius, Christian McBride and Ron Carter. Presenting a mixture of classic arrangements and straight ahead swing, with occasional reworkings of pop songs, and a more central role for the double bass
Martyn has performed with Lady Gaga (Royal Variety Performance), Caro Emerald (Strictly Come Dancing), is bassist for the Matt Goss (Bros) UK Quartet, and has worked extensively with the Royal Shakespeare Company
