In order to understand more about why Leonardo has been celebrated for centuries as one of the greatest artists of the Italian Renaissance, he has to be considered within the context of his contemporaries. Dr Neher will provide an introduction to Renaissance Florence under Cosimo de’ Medici, where Leonardo first emerged as an artist, and then move on to discuss Leonardo’s work at the court of Ludovico il Moro Sforza at Milan, who commissioned the ‘Last Supper’.
Dr Gabriele Neher is an Associate Professor in History of Art at the University of Nottingham.
Places are strictly limited and booking is essential. All talks are free, but normal entry charges apply.
