Calling all history lovers! Join Black Knight Historical at Nottingham Castle for some fun, historical themed entertainment for all the family.
Meet Vikings and Early Medieval settlers, discover more about the War of the Roses and decide whose side you'll take in the infamous English Civil War. For more information, please check the Nottingham Castle website.
Tommies & Trenches WW1: 24 – 25 July
Come to 1914-18 with us and meet soldiers and airmen who fought for Britain in the Great War. Queen Mary will be present, along with her entourage and the Padre. Local hero Albert Ball of the Royal Flying Corps will be in attendance, and powerful messages for and against the war will be told in the form of contemporary poetry from WW1 poets Sassoon, Owen, Brooke and Kipling.
Robin Hood Weekend: 7 – 8 August
He’s back! By popular demand our local hero and his trusty band of outlaws are back at the Castle to pit their wits against the evil Sheriff, his sidekick Guy of Gisburne and King John! With archery, combat, cookery, music and storytelling, the grounds will be bustling!
The Cousins War (War of the Roses): 14 – 15 August
One of our most popular events takes us back to the time of Knights in armour! Come and see live re-enactments of the conflict between cousins King Edward IV and Richard III. With Falconry and magnificent birds of prey, archery, combat demonstration, period crafts, costumes and colourful encampments.
Civil War: Black Knight 21 – 22 August
The year is 1642, and King Charles I is at Nottingham Castle with his soldiery and supporters to Raise The Standard and mark the start of the English Civil War. The locals are not too happy though! With a hundred re-enactors, encampments, cookery, soldiers, pikes, cannons, muskets and horses too, it’s set to be a spectacle to behold.
