All day event celebrating everything folklore from folk crafts such as basket weaving, flint knapping and jewellery making, to celebrations in the meadow and demonstrations from various groups.

Visitors will have the opportunity to explore the caves and gorge, hearing stories of the witch Mother Grundy who lived there. There will also be a range of traditional craft stalls, re-enactors, and folk music. Visitors can learn many new skills including willow weaving. In the museum visitors can walk around trade stalls and children can take part in a number of free craft activities based around the story of Mother Grundy. The museum will also be open for visitors to wander around the exhibition and book onto our ‘Life in the Ice Age’ and ‘Rock Art’ tours.

Booking details: If visitors wish to go on a ‘Life in the Ice Age’ or ‘Rock Art’ cave tour, this must be booked in advance (see our website for more details).

Prices: Entrance to the festival and its stalls will be free. To go on a ‘Life in the Ice Age’ or ‘Rock Art’ cave tour or to enter the main exhibition room charges apply. Car parking at the Museum is £3 per car.
