Neil C. Young heads up YoPoSh, nominated for a ‘Grammy’ award by Canadian American Records 3 times to date, Neil C. Young is an accomplished composer, arranger and musician.

Neil has played and worked with many artists across different genres through his career including Nathan Bray, Soweto Kinch, Ben Crosland, Gary Boyle, Steve Tromans, Pat McCarthy, Pat Sprakes, Wendy Kirkland, Barnaby Dickinson, The Earlies, Sara Lowes, Liam Frost, Denny Laine and King Creosote to name a few. This all add to the influences already within Neil’s cache and the influences continue to grow.

Louis Potts provides the rhythm and percussion on this outing, taking a break from gigging and recording with Webbo and the Soft Boys, a rock band who are seriously cool! As a session player Louis has played Glastonbury and the South By Southwest Festival in Austen, Texas and this outing sees him getting his brushes out for some syncopated style.

The third element in YoPoSh is Stray’s Coffee co-founder Mat Short, playing his late father’s Fender Jazz Bass Guitar. Originally Mat played alto sax, influenced by the likes of Ben Webster and Cannonball Adderley, originally studying with Jan Koppinski and more recently, being guided along the road of improvisation by jazz trumpeter, composer, arranger and all-round nice guy Nathan Bray.

Expect a mix of styles and tunes on this date, from artists including Sting to Duke Ellington, Cole Porter to Gershwin, Jobim to Henry Mancini, Bob Berg to Charles Mingus to mention a few…
