Newstead Abbey, Sunday 10th July, 12pm-4pm
Wandering poets, a choir, storytelling and birds of prey will be some of the highlights at the family fun and poetry day at Newstead Abbey, the home of Lord Byron, on Sunday 10 July.
The event will include guided tours of the abbey in poetry, children’s games, craft activities, a detective trail, ukulele music and the launch of a guide to the abbey in poems, entitled ‘Windows and Shadows’.
Poet in residence Becky Cullen has developed family workshops over the last few months with the aim of helping visitors better understand and connect with this historic site. She will be leading some of the poetry tours and the wandering poets will be providing poetry on demand.
Entrance costs £10 per car which includes parking.
