Events to mark the 70th anniversary of the accession of Queen Elizabeth II to the throne are being planned across the world, and Nottingham is no exception.

A series of events, activities, and installations will take place between Thursday 2 – Sunday 5 June across Nottingham that everybody can enjoy over the extended Bank Holiday weekend. The first events to be announced are those with more of a community focus.

These events are being run by independent groups - please check at the venue or with the local organiser for further details.


Saturday 28 May

A Queen’s Jubilee Picnic at King Edward Park organised by The Renewal Trust is being held a week early on Saturday 28 May between 11am – 2pm, where families and community members are invited to bring their picnic to the park to celebrate the jubilee.

Friday 3 June

At the Queen’s Recreation Ground on Friday 3 June from 11am to 6pm, the Meadows Action Group and the Bridges Community Trust will be putting on games, and crown-making activities for the children.

Jubilee picnics are planned at Heathfield Park run by The Pythian Club on Friday 3 June

Saturday 4 June

A Jubilee Family Fun Day at Clifton Central Park will take place on Saturday 4 June between 11am and 5pm

Sunday 5 June

The Stockhill and Ladbrooke Tenants and residents (Saltar) will be running an event on Sunday 5 June at Stockhill Park from 12 noon to 4pm. 

Street parties

19 applications have been received for residential Street Parties in Aspley, Bestwood, Basford, Bulwell, Sherwood, and Wollaton amongst other neighbourhoods. Street party applications received by Nottingham City Council before Monday 9 May were able to legally close residential streets without charge.
