Make your weekend walk or cycle a church-saving one with Ride+Stride 2022!
Ride+Stride is back this September, the chance for anyone to get out on their bike or take a stroll through Nottinghamshire's countryside and explore its beautiful historic churches. Join the Nottinghamshire Historic Churches Trust for its sponsored walk and bike ride, where you can discover the county’s church heritage whilst helping to raise much-needed funds for their preservation.
With many churches and chapels up and down the county open between 10am and 6pm, Ride+Stride is a great way to explore these fine buildings in need of our help, all in one great day out.
How it works
You are sponsored to visit churches who are also sponsored for welcoming visitors. The combination of exploring heritage and exercising across our beautiful county, whilst supporting the trust to carry out its vital work, makes this a fantastic, local event.
Who can take part?
Anyone! You don’t have to be a member of a church; families, colleagues, friends, runners, mobility scooters and dog walkers are all welcome. Ride+Stride can be tailored to your needs too. Whether it’s a leisurely stroll from the doorstep or an epic cross-county ride, you decide your route and what churches to visit along the way. It’s a fantastic low-impact, low-cost day out!
Why take part?
By simply going on your usual stroll and cycle, you will be helping raise the funds which the trust then uses to award grants to repair and preserve these historic places of worship for the next generation. Last year the trust managed to raise over £14,000!
So get out there, have fun and let’s make 2022’s Ride+Stride the most successful ever!
When?
10am-6pm, Saturday 10th September 2022.
Where?
From Sherwood to Southwell, Retford to Rushcliffe, participating churches are found across the county, helping to make Ride+Stride such an accessible event wherever you are. The finalised list of churches will be posted on the trust's website soon but regular participants in past years have included many of Nottinghamshire’s churches which feature here.
How can I raise money?
There are several different ways you can donate to Ride+Stride. Most participants set up their own Just Giving page for the event which your sponsors can add to. Another option is to make a direct donation on our Just Giving page which can be found on the trust's website.
Anything you raise will go towards preserving our county's priceless heritage and save our churches for communities across Nottinghamshire.
